The Asian Summer Market is returning for a second consecutive year. Presented by 3721 the Homework, the event will be taking place at the Radisson Hotel ballroom July 8 to 9. Originally started in May 2022, the festival is a continuation of the Asian Easter Market, that aims to promote multiculturalism and provide people of different nationalities an avenue to sell their goods, talents, or businesses.
“In the (last) few years, there have been many Hong Kong people who immigrated to Vancouver, besides daily work, some of them have their own talents, such as handcrafts, cooking, services, and businesses. (I thought) why don’t we bring them together to show our strength to the community, and so I had the Asian Market idea”, said Chris Ho, organizer of the event.
Ho garnered show and event organizing experience back when he was living in Hong Kong, he was happy with the connections that he was able to make and gain the trust of local people. Vendors can participate in the Asian Summer Market by emailing the Chris at productions3721@gmail.com, and they will be sent an application form.
3721 the Homework has invited local crafters, artists, and small businesses that feature Asia’s uniqueness and characteristics. In addition to market events, the organization also hosts music events. Their series, “Cantopop Only” promotes Cantonese pop music. They also have a movement called “Vantopop”, where they produce their own Cantopop songs in Vancouver. 3721 the Homework, has also recently hosted a Cantopop Signing Contest last month, awarding the winner the opportunity to release a song on music platforms.
